I had the pleasure of meeting Dakoira Cao at the 2009 Sexgames a few weeks ago and asked him for a interview which he graciously agreed to. Dakoira designs latex fetish clothing, very nice clean lines and outfits which are suitable for more than just fetish.Suede:. Can you tell me a little about you?
Dakoira : I am 43 and from the US but I live now in Finland and have lived in Europe for about 15 years. I love doing all things creative including photography, cooking, I play some guitar and drums, I do website design and graphic design for my rl business that I own. I share more about my rl with people if they askSuede :2006 is your rezzdate you have been in SL a long time, why did you stay
Dakoira : My rez date is 9/24/2006 and I stayed because I like the creative outlet and have met some great people.
Suede : What do you love about SL and what makes you crazy.
Dakoira :I love the ability to meet new people from all over the world and to be able to create things that people like and find interesting and make them feel good about themselves. What drives me crazy sometimes is of course the lag-and the god awful deisgns of some sims--bad design really drives me crazy.
Suede : You have a shop in Kama City, the hub of Zindra, do you have more traffic here or at your old shop on the mainland.
Daikoira : I have actually more traffic in Zindra. I was a bit concerned about moving to Zindra that now enough people would be age verified, but it has proven to not be a problem. I also did not have in my old shop the ability for people to just walk in--it was a skybox--so that also helps things.
Suede : How do you come up with your inspiration for your designs
Dakoira : Inspiration comes from a variety of places including rl fetish sites and clothing stores but also from music videos and from people I meet here in SL--many of my popular items have come from requests from people here.
Suede : Which of your current designs is your favorite
Dakoira : My favorites change by the day and depending on who I am talking with. I don't have a female Avatar so I like to try my new designs out on friends or even just who ever is around at the time (if you are lucky enough it might be you!). I love seeing how an outfit looks on someone and some outfits look better on certain people. It then becomes my favorite. If you see many of my outfit names are named after people (and those are real friends of mine), and that is because I think it is them that really bring out the essence of the outfit--the erotic and sensual side of what I am creating.
Suede: How long have you been designing clothingDakoira : I have been designing almost from the beginning. I made my first things just about a month after joining and had some friends that really liked them and helped me get started. I must give a big thank you to Genvieve Hutchence who actually gave me shop space for free and helped me a lot to start my business
